DEI is a mindset which requires conscious and deliberate action. We acknowledge that personal unconscious biases exist, and our goal is to acknowledge these biases and challenge them within a cooperative context.
Through our DEI training with VISIONS Inc., KASA implements diversity, equity and inclusion within the following framework and mindset:
Diversity as acknowledging and recognizing the unique perspectives, lived experiences, and beliefs of those with whom we work with and support.
Equity as commitment to fundamental fairness and justice for all individuals and reflect these principals in our actions and interactions with others. Inclusion as welcoming and embracing differences. We seek to include people and perspectives that might otherwise be excluded or marginalized. We strive to create community in our work and conduct ourselves with empathy to understand and accept others.
Within KASA’s mission is to create a diverse workforce with more women and people of color (POC). Only 42% of fulltime commercial real estate professionals are women and only 15% who identify as POC hold executive positions. This disparity and under-representation is at the center of how we conduct our hiring process, how we evaluate promotions and how we create a culture of inclusivity to ensure that all perspectives and views are considered.
To that end, Eighty-Two percent (82%) of KASA’s workforce is made up of
women (55%) and people of color (45%).
KASA is rooted in an unwavering commitment to DEI with the following:
•Trustworthiness, honesty and transparency in what we say and what we do.
•A reduction of bias –whether in managing a team, in the hiring process, in communication - we minimize bias in policies, processes and programs by recognizing blind spots with a commitment to continuous learning and accountability.
•Internal mentorship and professional development plans and initiatives.
